Description and Objective
The Procedural and Distributive Fairness of Gainsharing (PDFG-15) scale is designed to assess employees’ perceptions of organizational fairness in gainsharing systems. It examines whether employees perceive both the procedures used to determine gainsharing outcomes and the distribution of resulting rewards as fair and equitable.
Structure
The PDFG-15 consists of 15 items focusing primarily on two dimensions: procedural fairness, concerning the fairness and consistency of decision-making processes, and distributive fairness, concerning the perceived fairness of reward allocation and outcomes.
Application
The scale can be used in organizational and management research to investigate employees’ perceptions of compensation and incentive practices. Higher perceived fairness may be associated with more positive attitudes toward gainsharing programs, organizational commitment, satisfaction, and acceptance of organizational reward systems.
Research Use
The PDFG-15 can support research examining the relationship between organizational justice, employee motivation, reward systems, and workplace attitudes, particularly in organizations implementing performance-based or gainsharing compensation practices.
